It’s still early, but….

Democrats thought they received a break when Bill Brady surprisingly won the Republican nomination for Governor of Illinois, but with Pat Quinn’s approval rating at just 25% it may not have mattered that much who the GOP put forward. Brady leads Quinn 43-33 in our first poll of the general election..Overall 53% of Illinois voters disapprove of the job Quinn is doing to that 25% who approve….Brady remains an unknown to most voters in the state. 55% have no opinion of him while 25% see him favorably and 20% negatively…Public Policy Polling, April 7

Republican State Senator Bill Brady now leads Governor Pat Quinn 45% to 38% in Illinois’s gubernatorial contest….The race….   has tightened slightly since last month, when Brady was 10 points ahead. … Forty-three percent (43%) of Illinois voters approve of Quinn’s performance as governor, while 56% disapprove….Nineteen percent (19%) have a very favorable view of Brady, and nearly as many (15%) regard him very unfavorably. But nearly one-out-of-five voters (18%) don’t know enough about him to have any kind of opinion….Rasmussen Reports, April 8

Some out-of-the-margin-of-error discrepancies between the two polls but very little good news for the governor except that it’s April and the election isn’t until November.
